conference weekend=favorite things

Is there anything better than conference weekend? Seriously, I look forward to it so much. An excuse to spend eight hours hanging out as a family listening to the church leaders and being inspired and uplifted--it doesn't get any better than that.

And one of my favorite parts of this weekend is all the yummy food we make (since the sessions here in the Midwest are on right at mealtimes). This morning we went to the farmer's market and got all kinds of goodies (we're especially excited about the freshly pressed local cider!!!) to fuel our food-making fun. We had so much fun wandering out in the crisp (41 degrees this morning!) October air munching on enormous apple fritters. And now the fridge is stocked with all kinds of treats (like Brie and fresh mozzarella), the counter is piled with kale, tomatoes, sugar peas, eggplant, mushrooms, peppers, four kinds of heirloom apples, sweet potatoes, and squash, and a turkey breast is waiting in the fridge. I have plans for pumpkin pie, whole wheat bread, and baguettes. And a good long run after that, and a happy interlude between sessions planting tulip and daffodil and crocus bulbs with Abigail. Love this weekend!!!! (even if I'm still on tons of medication).

And now you'll have to excuse me--Neil's got a roast beef/mushroom/mozzarella/pesto (on onion sourdough) panini calling my name.
