Rainy day fort fun

In August, our state set a new record for the least amount of rain--ever.  It was less than 1/3 of an inch.  It seems fitting that we welcomed in the first of September with beautiful, delicious, wonderful thunderstorms.

And what do you do when rain is beating against the windows?

Why build a fort, of course!
Jules was the mommy and made us dinner (but pretty quickly, I had to be the mommy so they could play Laura and Mary from the Little House series.  Isaac was designated as "good old bulldog Jack," since Baby Carrie was played by Hippo Hippo, wrapped in  a bandanna and stuffed inside a shoebox).
Our fort came complete with a clothespin fire (on which Abigail is vigorously blowing to get the flames    going--she's been paying close attention to Neil's fire-starting!

Abigail kept making me laugh--at one point she went to the bathroom and came back and said, "I went to the johnny-house," which is what they call it in When I Was Young in the Mountains.  Oh, I love little kids!

Brings back fun memories. Remember when we had a week of snow days? The library turned into a maze of blanketed forts and tunnels.
