Beloved by my boys

When my oldest son was around six months old, I remember worrying that I didn't have enough "boy books" around. A wise friend told me that in general her sons were interested in many of the same books that her daughters loved, but she had noticed that her sons really enjoyed "fact books" as well (more on that later).

Right now both of my older boys love fairy tales more than anything else--particularly Bearskin and The Tinderbox, which both feature some pretty adventurous sword-wielding heroes! They also love many of the books on previous lists, but the ones I'm listing on this post have appealed to my boys even more than they did to my girls.

Jamberry (Bruce Degin)
Gregory the Terrible Eater (Mitchell Sharmat)

King Bidgood's in the Bathtub (Audrey Wood)
All Aboard Trains (Mary Harding, ill. Richard Courtney)
