what do you say when, upon returning from fetching a tissue to wipe the tiny baby nose, you find your freshly bathed (and dressed in freshly laundered clothes) toddler in a puddle of tears and juice in the middle of the freshly mopped kitchen floor? and as you take a deep breath of exasperation, aforesaid toddler looks up through streaming eyes and says in a choked voice, "Maybe you should just get a new Abigail, Mommy. I'm just too messy to have."
can i just say that my heart cried for that little girl?

Oh my! That is the sweetest/saddest thing I've ever heard. What a dear!
She sounds like such a little darling! What a sweet girl to be sad that she made a mess. (Unlike my two year old that smiled up at me when we walked in on him on Sunday pouring an entire bottle of maple syrup all over my kitchen. 10 minutes before church. I could've cried all right...)
Did you take a picture?
What an absolutely poignant moment! Remember that little girl when you are frustrated at times over the next 16 or 17 years--it will be the same girl, just less able to articulate her fears and regrets.
