count your many blessings

One:
The husband who snuck out of our room this morning with the wide-awake baby, waylaid the toddler, and kept them both quiet and happy until I bolted out of bed at 9:10 this morning and realized that I had slept in--glory be--and actually felt human for the first time in 3 weeks.

Two:
The darling little girl who told me importantly that she was a "good dob helper!" and proceeded to help me make quiche (adding her own secret ingredient--nutmeg--when I wasn't looking), and rolls for lunch (she decided she liked eating the raw bread dough and licking the sugar measuring spoon), and fold laundry.

The quiche turned out really well, in case you were wondering. Maybe she's got something there with the nutmeg!

Three:

The sweet little baby who watched all these proceedings wide-eyed from her bouncy seat and fell asleep just in time for us to enjoy a quiet lunch (with Daddy! Yay! He stayed home and studied all morning and came out for some good family time. We will miss him next week when we go to Michigan--today was our "surrogate Saturday," at least insofar as breakfast and lunch were concerned. So nice to have him around).

Nutmeg is divine--I add it to anything I can think of. Sometimes I plan entire snacks around nutmeg.
