Bryce Canyon

Bryce Canyon was our third national park of the trip. Like Canyonlands, we opted to just do a single hike to get a feel for the park on our way to Zion (we were there for about three hours).

We hiked from Sunset to Sunrise Point, then down through the Navajo Loop and Queen's Garden. Our original plan was to come back up via Wall Street, but it was closed while we were there (and reopened the day after we got home, such a bummer!).

Bryce is insanely beautiful and absolutely otherworldly.

The rocks in Bryce are the "youngest" version of the Colorado Plateau--you can see the next stage of transition in Zion and then the last in the Grand Canyon. Very cool.

I loved that we had time to hike down through the amphitheater; I couldn't stop saying "Oh my gosh this is AMAZING!" (I may have been trying to convince grumpy kids who really just wanted to be asleep in the car...)

BUT LOOK AT THOSE VIEWS!

Oh man I just could not get enough of those colors...

I was in love with the canyon-y feel at the bottom...

Some pretty crazy loooking hoodoos down there!

We really got a kick out of the tunnels that were not meant for someone of Neil's height...

Resting on some of the (crazy steep) switchbacks on the way back up

That combination of sky and rock...just so so so beautiful.

Juliet was camoflaged!

And to take us out, a picture of everyone trying to line up and Abigail not being able to fit. This is about what it felt like trying to get everyone back in the car every time...

I'm so glad we detoured by Bryce--it was so beautiful!
