Kings Island 2022

We made it back to Kings Island!! We have gone most years in the spring since Abigail was in 3rd grade, but we missed both 2021 and 2021 thanks to COVID. It felt good to be back after our last trip in 2019.

It was kind of a weird day to go because there was quite a bit of rain (which isn't the worst for keeping crowds down) but there was literally ONE day we could go between everyone's exams and our work schedules, so we decided anything was better than nothing.

It was pretty rainy, haha, but the kids were super daring! (I would not have put myself in a puddle like they did on this ride, but they were just upbeat and happy about it.)

Nathan was not sure at first about his sudden height leap and going on all the big coasters he'd been too small for in 2019...

But he was very brave and tried them out! (A Hot Wheels bribe may or may not have factored into this decision.) And he loved them all!!

Luke was also big enough for everything and his faces were just amazing, haha! He has been a rollercoaster junkie for years and it was fun to watch him on the biggest ones. I wish I had a picture of his first coaster (Firechaser Express) when he was four, because there is a smile Luke gives on rollercoasters that you never see otherwise.

Matty and I watched everyone take off on the Beast so we could get this photo...

We did the parent swap thing for a bit during the first part of the day, but Matty and I spent a pretty good chunk of the day together doing the lower-key rides. As I've gotten older I just don't have the same endurance for the bigger coasters...I can ride them a few times, but I can't go back to back to back like the kids can. Actually the ride above just about took me out nausea-wise.

This was also kind of a hard day because we found out that my grandmother died. So I was on the phone a fair amount with my extended family and it was good to be able to watch Matty go on rides while I was talking.

We also did a lot of stuff that I would normally skip, like the train...

And in all the times I've been to Kings Island, I've never gone up in the mock Eiffel Tower! But Matty wanted to go, so up we went, and it was actually a really great view.

The classic cars are always a hit...Nathan was a great chauffeur!

And it's a good thing they were speed-controlled, because Isaac definitely would have rammed us.

This was Matty's favorite ride and thankfully Nathan showed up to ride it with him a few more times because my stomach could not handle it again!

Look at these cuties--such a fun day!!

A very stoic and wet Luke on the classic cars...

Diamondback with my four big kids!

And to take us out, Matty on the Great Pumpkin Coaster, which I believe he rode SEVEN times in a row while we were waiting for the older kids. (Then he rode it another three times with them.) We also did the Boo Boo Blasters ride like six times, thank you very much to the rain.

Another fun year--and it's hard to wrap my brain around the fact that next year's trip will be our last with Abigail!!

Kings Island 2019

Oh gosh these pics make me REALLY miss our annual trip to Kings' Island! We didn't go this year (thanks a lot pandemic) but I'm so excited for future years--this is one of our favorite annual traditions as a family.

Nathan's face in this one--so good.

I deliberately tried this day to get as many selfies as I could with my kids.

JULIET'S FACE

I have lots of pics with the little boys since I spent a good portion of the day watching them on the smaller rides! Neil and I both definitely felt like we were getting old, haha--just not quite the tolerance for the giant coasters that we used to have so by the end of the day we were glad when it was our turn with the little ones!

Oh dang this is a good Matty face!

Such a fun day--can't wait to go again!!
