Multnomah Falls

Multnomah Falls! We made a very last minute decision to detour through the Columbia River Gorge and I'm so glad we did because it was beautiful.

There were so many fruit farms and fruit stands--we randomly picked one and while we were waiting to check out we heard the cashier telling someone that he would be leaving soon to serve a mission for his church. So we of course asked him if he was LDS and then if he knew our friends who lived in Hood River, and of course he did! (And one of them was supposed to be working that day but hadn't come in because they were closing early due to the heat.) Such a small world and I really wish we had been planning to go to Hood River in the first place so we could have met up with our friends--I texted her afterwards but we were too tight on time with our Multnomah entrance passes.

I would really really really love to come back and bike/hike the entire waterfall corridor. So hard to be in a beautiful place that you feel like you're just getting a tiny tantalizing taste of what it has to offer!

We hiked up to the bridge and then a bit past it towards the upper falls, but it was sooooo hot that it was just not a fun day to do much more.

Half of my photos have a chunk of hand in them because the sun was so bright that it was hard to take a photo of the falls! It really would be so much better to visit this around 7 am.

But I'm so glad we stopped because it was really beautiful (and it didn't hurt that we were eating cherries and apricots the whole time we were walking around!).
